Round of 16 · 4–7 July 2026 · Two matches a day · Canada open the round in Houston · Outright odds in CAD

The group stage is a memory and the Round of 32 has already claimed two former champions. What comes next is the eight-tie Round of 16, played across four days from 4 to 7 July, two matches a day. Two pairings are locked — including the one that matters most to a Canadian audience — while the rest fill in as the final Round of 32 ties are settled. This is the map: who plays whom, when, where, and what the outright board says about it, all in Canadian decimal odds.

The Round of 16 bracket forming across 4–7 July, with two of the eight ties already confirmed.
  • Canada open the round against Morocco in Houston on 4 July — the co-hosts’ first-ever Round of 16 match.
  • Brazil vs Norway (5 July) is the other confirmed tie, pitting Haaland against a Brazil side that survived Japan.
  • The remaining six ties feed from Round of 32 matches played 30 June–3 July, including two on Canadian soil on 2 July.
  • France (~3.50) leads the outright board, clear of Argentina (~5.00), after Germany and the Netherlands went out.

The confirmed ties

Two Round of 16 matches have both teams set, and Canada are in one of them.

Date (ET) Round of 16 tie Kickoff Venue
Sat 4 Jul Canada vs Morocco 1:00 PM NRG Stadium, Houston
Sun 5 Jul Brazil vs Norway 4:00 PM MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford

Canada earned their tie with a 1-0 win over South Africa; Morocco earned theirs by eliminating the Netherlands on penalties. Brazil edged Japan 2-1, and Norway rode Erling Haaland’s late winner past Côte d’Ivoire. Our full breakdown of the co-hosts’ tie is in the Canada vs Morocco preview.

The bracket still forming

The other six ties depend on Round of 32 results between 30 June and 3 July. Here is how the draw is structured, with the feeder matches noted.

Date (ET) Round of 16 tie Venue
Sat 4 Jul Paraguay vs (France/Sweden winner) Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
Sun 5 Jul (Mexico/Ecuador winner) vs (England/DR Congo winner) Estadio Azteca, Mexico City
Mon 6 Jul (Spain/Austria winner) vs (Portugal/Croatia winner) AT&T Stadium, Arlington
Mon 6 Jul (Belgium/Senegal winner) vs (USA/Bosnia winner) Lumen Field, Seattle
Tue 7 Jul (Australia/Egypt winner) vs (Argentina/Cape Verde winner) Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
Tue 7 Jul (Switzerland/Algeria winner) vs (Colombia/Ghana winner) BC Place, Vancouver
Canadian-soil feeders: two of the Round of 32 ties that feed this bracket are being played in Canada on 2 July — Portugal vs Croatia at BMO Field in Toronto and Switzerland vs Algeria at BC Place in Vancouver. The BC Place winner’s path even loops back to Vancouver for a 7 July Round of 16 tie.

Canada’s road from here

Beat Morocco in Houston and Canada would reach a quarter-final for the first time. The bracket beyond the Round of 16 on the co-hosts’ side runs through the Paraguay / France-Sweden quadrant — which is to say the biggest obstacle, France, sits on Canada’s half of the draw only if the French navigate their own ties first. For now, the one game that matters is Saturday’s.

The friendly half
With Germany and the Netherlands eliminated, the section around Canada lost two heavyweights. Morocco are dangerous, but the quarter-final beyond is winnable on paper.
The loaded half
France, Argentina, Spain and England are grouped on the other side of the draw. A Canada run would likely avoid all of them until a semi-final at the earliest.

Outright odds — the board after the shocks

Prices below are decimal, from FanDuel via Fox Sports and dated 30 June 2026; read them as ranges rather than fixed numbers.

Selection Odds (decimal) Note
France 3.50 Sole clear favourite
Argentina 5.00 Clear second
Spain 7.50 In R32 action 2 July
England 8.00 In R32 action 1 July
Brazil 10.50 Confirmed vs Norway
Portugal 15.00 In R32 action 2 July
Morocco 20.00 Canada’s opponent
Norway 41.00 Brazil’s opponent
Canada 126.00 Co-hosts
Example: France firmed from roughly 4.50 to 3.50 once Germany went out. A C$25 outright on France at 3.50 returns C$87.50 (C$62.50 profit). At the other end, a C$5 flutter on Canada at 126.00 returns C$630 if the co-hosts go all the way. Lines stamped 30 June 2026 — confirm at your Canadian-licensed sportsbook before staking.
Six of the eight Round of 16 ties still have at least one undetermined team, and the outright board predates the pending 30 June results. Prices and pairings will move as the last Round of 32 games are settled. All odds here are decimal, in CAD; verify at your Canadian-licensed sportsbook (Ontario via AGCO / iGaming Ontario; BCLC PlayNow in BC; Loto-Québec in QC; ALC in the Atlantic) before placing.

The Canadian read

  • Saturday is the marquee. Canada vs Morocco at 1:00 PM ET is the highest-profile men’s fixture the country has hosted a national interest in — a Saturday-afternoon slot tailor-made for a national audience.
  • Two ties on home soil feed the round. Portugal–Croatia in Toronto and Switzerland–Algeria in Vancouver on 2 July both send their winners into this bracket.
  • France is the one to beat. The post-shock reset made France a standalone favourite; anyone building an outright position around Canada’s half of the draw is really betting on the French slipping up.
